MARYSVILLE — The fire that destroyed a detached garage in the Getchell area last week started when debris fell out of a wood-burning stove, officials said Tuesday.
The Aug. 4 fire caused $50,000 in damage to a garage and its contents in the 8800 block of 132nd Street NE.
People in the garage were burning trash in the stove while the stove’s door was open, according to the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office. Debris fell out and ignited other items in the garage.
After the fire, one man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire has since been ruled an accident.
