A supplier to the 787 program plans to open a new site in South Carolina to support the Boeing Co.’s operations there.
A division of InterTech announced Wednesday that it will develop a 30-acre site in North Charleston, according to a Charleston media report. InterTech’s subsidiary, TIGHITCO, will employ 350 people at its new location.
Boeing opened its second 787 final assembly line in North Charleston. Workers there recently began final assembly of their first 787. As Boeing increases production, eventually its South Carolina location will build three 787s monthly.
Boeing is delivering its first 787, assembled in Everett, later this month to the Dreamliner’s launch customer, All Nippon Airways.
