LYNNWOOD — A man and a boy are expected to recover after they were in a serious accident on I-5 in Lynnwood on Monday night.
The two were in a Honda that ended up under the wheels of a semitruck trailer. The Honda was dragged more than 700 feet, said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol.
The wreck snarled the evening commute in the southbound lanes of the highway near 164th Street SW.
The Honda’s driver, 19, of Lynnwood, was treated and released at a Seattle hospital that night, officials said. The boy, 12, remained hospitalized on Thursday. The truck driver was not injured.
Troopers believe the Honda hit a barrier on the left shoulder and then crossed all lanes of the highway, striking the semitruck trailer, according to a State Patrol memo.
The accident remains under investigation as a possible vehicular assault, Leary said. Unsafe lane changes may have been a factor.
