South county cooks up Food Day events too
Food Day, the national event that organizers hope will be to food awareness what Earth Day is to environmental causes, is Monday, Oct. 24.
It's a day to take the Slow Food USA's $5 Challenge, which we wrote about on Sunday, or visit a local community college to learn more and take part in cooking demonstrations.
In South County food tastings, a movie screening, squash painting and zucchini races plus a Junk Food Hall of Shame and children's activities will be presented at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Events will begin at 11 a.m.
Similar activities are planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Everett Community College.
