Granite Falls couple's Chihuahua to play pool on 'Tonight Show'

GRANITE FALLS -- Amadeus, the billiards-playing Chihuahua, is expected to appear on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Tuesday.
The 5-pound dog gets placed onto the table and then rolls the balls into the pockets. Amadeus and owner Connie Baldwin are scheduled \to give a demonstration to air on Leno's program. Actress Katherine Heigl and comedian J.B. Smoove are also scheduled to be on the same show.
"We love 'The Tonight Show.' We watch it every night," said Michael Baldwin, Connie's husband. "Having Amadeus there is really cool."
Currently, Connie is on her way to Los Angeles, and she is scheduled to tape the show at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Michael Baldwin said..
The couple had been trying to get Amadeus on national television for some time. First, they tried getting him on "World's Funniest Videos." They never heard back from the show, so they moved to YouTube where Amadeus' three videos have more than 527,000 views as of Monday.
Amadeus has also appeared in "America's Got Talent" last June, Michael Baldwin said.
Still, the couple sent a video to "Tonight Show" producers about two months ago.
"They said they really loved it, and wanted Amadeus on the show," Michael Baldwin said.
Originally, Amadeus was slated to appear in November, but he was bumped when President Barack Obama came on the show, Michael Baldwin said.
There have been some changes in Amadeus' life since he last appeared in The Herald more than a year ago. The Baldwins have closed Robin's Billiards, where he performed three days a week, and moved to Granite Falls in January. He now practices at a bar in Smokey Point and a friend's house in Monroe, Michael Baldwin said.
"The Tonight Show" airs at 11:30 p.m. on KING-TV.
