Man charged in rape of girl, 12

SEATTLE -- King County prosecutors have charged a 38-year-old Shoreline man in an attack on a 12-year-old girl raped in her home.
Jesse R. Gonzales was charged Friday with first-degree rape and first-degree burglary with sexual motivation. He was jailed on $1 million bail.
County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said because Gonzales is charged with first-degree rape and the alleged victim is younger than 15, the prosecutor's office will seek a sentence of 27 years to life if Gonzales is convicted.
The man was arrested after a palm print lifted from the girl's room was matched to one Gonzales provided after a 2006 arrest.
Police said he is a neighbor of the victim attacked Sunday.
The Seattle Times reported that the man's criminal history includes five felony convictions. Arraignment was set for Dec. 22.
