Camano Island: Get ready to sing

The fourth annual Community Messiah Sing is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 30 at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 1318 Highway 532. An orchestra, organ and harpsichord will accompany an expected 200-voice chorus. People are invited to join in. A freewill offering and a plum pudding reception follows.

Darrington: Dessert potluck planned

The Darrington Area Business Association plans a goodies potluck and meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cascade Senior Center, 1115 Darrington St.

The public is encouraged to attend to find out more about tourism promotion in Darrington.

Everett: Volunteers needed for city boards

The City of Everett is accepting applications for volunteers on three city boards.

They are the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, which handles animal control issues; the Parks Board, which advises on parks and recreation activities in the city; and the Transportation Advisory Board, which seeks solutions to problems of traffic and safety.

Applications are available on the city’s website at http://tinyurl.com/EverettBoards and must be sent to the Mayor’s Office/Boards and Commissions, Attention: Anne Pogson, 2930 Wetmore Ave. Suite 10A, Everett, WA 98201. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. Jan. 6.

Granite Falls: Apply for commission seat

The City of Granite Falls has one open position available on its planning commission.

The commission consists of six volunteer members. They meet at 7 p.m. on the second and the fourth Tuesday of each month. This term will run through Jan. 2, 2015.

Interested residents should return a completed application by Monday to Darla Reese, City of Granite Falls, 206 S. Granite Ave., P.O. Box 1440, Granite Falls, WA 98252.

Marysville: Boy Scouts to recycle trees

Marysville Parks and Recreation Department and Marysville-area Boy Scout troops are set to help people recycle their Christmas trees after the holidays.

Boy Scouts from Troops 80, 81, 82, 84 and 419 in Marysville are scheduled to pick up trees that are place curbside between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Jan. 7. Trees must be at the curb by 8 a.m.

Residents should look for a donation envelope at their front door prior to the tree pickup date. Scouts will deliver it to Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road. Donations are optional. If the Scouts miss a tree on the pickup date, residents may call the program director at 360-659-8878.

Residents can also bring their trees directly to Jennings Park.
