So I got so caught up in the Pete Carroll press conference that I completely forgot to pass on a little bit of other news from Tuesday, and that was the team announcing that it had signed seven players to future contracts: DE Pierre Allen, LB Allen Bradford, CB Coye Francies, DE John Graves, CB Jesse Hoffman, TE John Nalbone, G Brent Osborne. All but one of those players, Hoffman, finished the year on Seattle’s practice squad. Hoffman, who played at Shorecrest high school, spent training camp with the Seahawks before being cut.
Additionally, the Seahawks added running back Tyrell Sutton. Sutton, who played collegiality at Northwestern, entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and most recently played for Carolina.
Now before anyone makes too big a deal out of any of these moves, it is worth noting that very few players signed to future contracts have an impact, but that’s not always the case. Cornerback Brandon Browner was a future contract signee around this time last year, as was guard/tackle Paul McQuistan.
