Lake Stevens: Get help with tax returns

Appointments are being scheduled at the Lake Stevens Family Center for people who would like to receive help preparing their income tax returns.

Limited free appointments are available from 9 a.m. through noon Feb. 6 and Feb. 13.

Lake Stevens Family Center is located at 1803 123rd Dr. NE. The assistance is offered with the support of United Way of Snohomish County and the Lake Stevens Fire Department.

Lynnwood: Register for a softball league

Registration for Lynnwood’s adult softball leagues is scheduled to begin Monday for returning teams and Wednesday for new teams.

All teams will play 10 regularly scheduled league games and the top four teams in each division will play in a season-ending tournament.

Spring league fees are $650 per team for men, women or co-ed leagues, and all league fees are due upon registration.

Marysville: Voice classes offered

Voice classes are set to begin Feb. 2 at the Ken Baxter Community Center.

Sessions for children, teens and adults are taught by Robin Hilt on Thursdays. The classes cost $40 and are scheduled to last through Feb. 23 at the center, 514 Delta Ave.

Group holds Valentine’s pet food drive

Scrub-A-Mutt, a nonprofit that raises money for pet-based charities, is planning a Valentine’s pet food drive.

The food drive at the Safeway store located at 1258 State Ave., is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 11. Donations of dog and cat food and cash donations will benefit the Marysville Community Food Bank.

Everyone who makes a donation will be entered to win a Valentine-themed dog gift basket worth more than $100.

Snohomish: Council meets Monday

The Snohomish City Council is scheduled to meet Monday instead of Tuesday.

A workshop session is scheduled at 6 p.m., in George Gilbertson Boardroom, 1601 Ave. D. A special meeting will follow at 7 p.m. The reason for the move was because two councilmembers are unable to attend Tuesday. The meeting is scheduled to discuss paying for water and sewer fees for the Aquatic Center for the Snohomish School District.
