Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival: Stanwood House Gallery &Art Center, 9915 270th St., Stanwood, is presenting an art show of paintings and sculptures of birds in conjunction with the festival; opening reception is 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 24. Schack Art Center: 2919 Hoyt Ave., Everett; 425-259-5050; www.schack.org; Lanny Bergner, born in Anacortes, has been creating biomorphic and geometric constructions and installations out of metal mesh since 1983. “Mesh” will feature a selection of bronze, brass, aluminum and stainless steel mesh studio works created since 2005 and installations created on-site specifically for Schack; through Feb. 23; Bergner will be giving a free lecture, “Mesh: Transforming the Common,” from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 18 during the Everett Art Walk.

This January and February, works feature the “Steampunk” theme with 40 artists’ pieces reminiscent of the spirit of adventure, invention and craftsmanship of the early 19th century. Through Feb. 27.
