Mardi Gras service: Edmonds Lutheran Church will hold a special Mardi Gras service starting at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Featured will be the Uptown Lowdown Dixieland jazz ensemble. The service will be followed by a free Fat Tuesday-style pancake breakfast. Mardi Gras is a time of feasting before the fasting of Lent, which begins next week on Ash Wednesday. All are welcome. Ugandan Orphans Choir: will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Pinehurst Baptist Church, 1902 Madison St., Everett. The choir is sponsored by Childcare Worldwide, a Christian child sponsorship organization. Donations welcome.

Lenten series: "Feasting on the Word," a Lenten series, will be at Everett's First Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 22 through April 4. Shrove Tuesday: St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Edmonds will celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the eve of Ash Wednesday, with a pancake supper and other events. Pancake supper 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Selah service: A contemplative service of music, Scripture and silent prayer, led by Jeff Johnson with special guest Jeff Maxwell, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 1318 Highway 532, Camano Island. Martin Luther King Jr. Musical: A Martin Luther King Jr. Musical is scheduled for 2 p.m. March 3 at First Presbyterian Church of Snohomish, 1306 Lake View Ave., Snohomish. Mary Beth Kurtenbach will direct more than 35 students in a musical depicting the civil rights leader's message. Admission free, donation to church scholarship fund accepted.
Christian Science talk: Chet Manchester, a Christian Science healer, will speak on the topic "Let Love Lead: find your path in life and work" 2 to 3 p.m. March 10 at First Church of Christ Scientist, 1718 Broadway, Everett. His talk will include perspective on Mary Baker Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." All are welcome.
