Stealth goalkeeper Croswell named NLL Defensive Player of the Week

The National Lacrosse League announced its weekly award winners on Wednesday and Washington Stealth goalkeeper Kevin Croswell earned the NLL's Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in Saturday's 14-9 victory over the Toronto Rock.

Croswell was signed to the roster just two days before the game and got the start for the injured Tyler Richards. Croswell saved 41 shots to lead the Stealth to win over the defending champs.

"It's a great feeling to come in and contribute to a win like this," Croswell said after the game. "The team came out firing and gave me a lot of confidence. Got a couple of saves early and the defense in front of me made it easy for me throughout the game."

Croswell's performance helped the Stealth to their much-needed second win of the 2012 season.

The NLL's Offensive Player of the Week went to Colorado's John Grant Jr. for the third time this season. Grant had four goals and five assists in the Mammoth's 16-13 win over Buffalo this past Saturday.

Minnesota's Andrew Suitor took home the league's Transition Player of the Week award. Suitor scored two goals and scooped up six loose balls in Saturday's 15-11 victory over the Calgary Roughnecks.

Derek Hopcroft also snagged NLL Rookie of the Week honors for his four goal, one assist performance against Buffalo.
