Biking season is upon us. And what better way to ride with confidence and take on long distances then to learn more about how your bike works and what to do if it breaks down?
Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop is offering that opportunity with classes on the basics of the bicycle.
The Mechanic I Class teaches the parts of a bike and how to evaluate its condition. Students will also learn about the bike’s bearing systems and how to overhaul them.
You can bring your own bike or use a Sharing Wheels bike. All tools are provided.
The class is limited to four students but the class will be offered every month throughout the year. The class lasts six hours. Classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m. March 21 and 28 and 6 to 9 p.m. April 18 and 25. Cost is $45 and must be prepaid to secure a spot. You can mail your payment to or drop it off at Sharing Wheels, 2531 Broadway, Everett, WA 98201.
Once you conquer Mechanic I, you can then sign up for the Mechanic II Class where you’ll learn more about your bike’s gears and brakes. That class is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28.
