DUVALL — Levi MaVorhis pitched a complete game, scattering four hits to go along with his six strikeouts to improve his record to 5-0 as Archbishop Murphy defeated Cedarcrest 6-3 on Monday afternoon in a battle of first and second place teams in the Cascade Conference.
MaVorhis also helped his cause at the plate, hitting an RBI single in the third inning to make the score 4-0.
The Red Wolves would cut the lead to 4-3 in the fourth inning behind an RBI double from Sam Ballweg, but the Wildcats weren’t done.
Archbishop Murphy would score in two of the game’s final three innings to seal the victory highlighted by an Alex Galgano RBI single in the fifth and a Trevor Morrison triple in the seventh.
Morrison finished 3-for-3 on the afternoon with three runs scored, while Galgano batted 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Ballweg batted 1-for-2 on the afternoon to pace the Cedarcrest hitters.
“This game had good fundamental hitting,” said Cedarcrest coach Scott Goldsberry. “There were just good hit-and-runs here and there.”
With the win Archbishop Murphy stays undefeated in the Cascade Conference standings (10-0), remaining in first place. The Red Wolves fall to 6-2 in league.
