CAMANO ISLAND — The Island County Sheriff’s Office is warning about a rash of boat motor thefts on Camano Island.
The thefts have occurred over the past three weeks, Island County Sheriff Mark Brown said.
Some motors were taken in burglaries, but others have been stolen from the back of boats parked in yards and driveways, Brown said.
In some cases, those motors were padlocked to the boats.
Brown suggested removing motors and securing them with more than a padlock.
The sheriff’s office has received six theft reports and has heard anecdotally of others that have not been reported.
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 360-629-2224.
