Humorist David Sedaris first gained attention two decades ago when National Public Radio aired his “Santaland Diaries.”
The uproarious, sardonic, sarcastic and silly story recounted his work as an elf at Macy’s, fending off fed-up parents and too-fancy Santas.
Since then Sedaris has published several best-selling books that, like “Santaland,” share his life story and his peculiar and hysterical way of looking at the world.
He is a regular contributor to “The New Yorker” and to “This American Life,” the popular public radio show.
His topics vary from the small to the grand, from the ridiculous to the sublime.
It’s anyone’s guess what he’ll choose to talk about during his annual visit to Seattle.
With 36 talks in 38 days, let’s just hope Sedaris knows which city he’s in.
Hurry to get a ticket — if any are left — for the appearance.
He’s scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday at Benaroya Hall, 200 University St., Seattle. Tickets are $38 to $47 at www.seattlesymphony.org/benaroya/.
