Benefit: Bake, plant sale for animals

The Camano Animal Shelter Association is sponsoring a bake and plant sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 12 at the Camano Multi-Purpose Center, 141 E. Camano Drive. People can also buy food and beverages. All proceeds benefit the animal shelter.

Help: Volunteer for food drive

Volunteers of America are searching for help to sort out food donations received through the annual Letter Carriers Food Drive on May 12.

Anyone interested need to sign up through the Volunteers of America of Western Washington website at www.voaww.org/lettercarriers.

This drive helps local food banks by sending yellow bags to people’s mailboxes on May 9. The bags can then be fill with donations to be picked up May 12 and delivered to distribution centers in Edmonds, Everett and Lynnwood.

The Food Drive is a national event. It is organized in Snohomish County by National Association of Letter Carriers Local 791, the Volunteers of America of Western Washington, United Way of Snohomish County and the Snohomish County Labor Council.

Help: Saddle up to help hospital

The annual Saddle Up for St. Jude fundraiser is being scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday by the Horse Country Farm, 8507 Hwy 92 Granite Falls.

People can sign up for day camp, lease a horse or take a lesson. Half of proceeds are to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Help: Senior volunteers needed

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is looking for people over 55 years of age to help in different volunteer projects through the county.

Donate: Lions Club blood drive

The Oak Harbor Lions Club is sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 10 at the First United Methodist Church, 1050 SE Ireland St.

There will be treats and beverages for the donors. Walk-ins are accepted but registration is encouraged. Register online at http://tinyurl.com/BloodDriveLions or calling 800-398-7888.

Donate: Clothing drive for families

Voyager Middle Schools is set to host a Community Wolvy’s Closet event. The school is asking for clothing, shoes, accessories and used sporting equipment.

People can drop in donations between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., weekdays at its main office, 11711 Fourth Ave. W. Everett. The donations are for families in need from the south Everett area.

The school is also looking for volunteers to distribute donations from 10 a.m. to noon May 12. For more information, contact Tammy Zirbel at 425-366-5300.
