REDMOND – Lake Sammamish advanced to within one win of the Washington Lacrosse Girls State Championship game with a 17 – 9 quarterfinal victory over Snohomish, Thursday at Marymoor Park in Redmond.

The win over sixth-ranked Snohomish sets up a semifinal matchup with Friday’s Lakeside, Seattle Prep winner. It is the second trip to the semifinals since 2010 for third-ranked Lake Sammamish, which is making its sixth post season appearance in the past seven years.

Claire Monsaas led all scorers for Lake Sammamish with four goals and four assists, while Allison Clements also had four goals.

Snohomish was led by Ashley Heisler, Amanda Hultz and Stehanie Lamphere. All scored two goals.

Lake Sammamish, the first place finishers in the Snoqualmie Conference, eased ahead in the first to take a 6 – 3 half-time lead over Snohomish before unleashing 11 second-half goals en route to their 12th win of the season.

The win was the second of the season for Lake Sammamish over Snohomish. Lake Sammamish won the first contest 15 – 14 on April 27.

Looking ahead to semifinal competition, Lake Sammamish dropped an 8 – 5 decision to Lakeside, March 19, in the second game of the season and did not face Seattle Prep in regular season play.
