Former WSU coach elected to Hall of Fame

SPOKANE -- Legendary Washington State football coach William "Lone Star" Dietz has been chosen for the 2012 class of the College Football Hall of Fame.
The National Football Foundation announced the selection Tuesday.
Dietz served as the head coach for 19 seasons at seven institutions. He compiled a 17-2-1 record at Washington State from 1915 to 1917. He led the Cougars to their only Rose Bowl victory in 1915.
