LAKE STEVENS -- A suspected bank robber was arrested Wednesday shortly after the holdup.

Lake Stevens police were alerted about 11 a.m. to a robbery at Union Bank at 909 Frontage Road, Sgt. Ron Brooks said.

A man, in what appeared to be a reddish wig and black hoodie-style sweatshirt, had shown a firearm and demanded money from a teller.

Before police arrived a local business owner snapped a picture of the suspect's vehicle and license plate, Brooks said. Additional officers were on their way to the bank when they spotted the car in the Lundeen Park area.

The officers eventually lost sight of the car but kept looking and found it parked nearby, Brooks said. They started a police dog search, and the dog led officers to an area west of Highway 9.

The suspect was located and arrested without incident, Brooks said. Police also located an airsoft plastic-pellet gun they believe was used in the robbery.

A Lake Stevens man in his mid-30s was booked for investigation of robbery and attempting to elude police. He also had a misdemeanor warrant.
