One small step for a dog: Although no one is offering much confirmation, the ashes of a Monroe police dog reportedly are aboard the Dragon capsule that was launched Tuesday from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Officials for the company that offers to send human cremated remains into orbit were not aware that the dog was smuggled aboard with the human cargo, but astronauts aboard the International Space Station reported that when the Dragon made its flyby they heard a faint, ethereal barking sound.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1916, the Chicago Tribune quoted automobile industrialist Henry Ford as saying in part, “History is more or less bunk. … the only history that is worth a tinker’s dam is the history we make today.”
Coincidentally, today also marks the day that Moody’s Investors Service upgraded Ford Motor Co. to “investment grade” from “tinker’s dam” status.
