Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar will speak Wednesday night at a fundraiser in Everett.

When Jacob Marsh began working as director of the South Everett/Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club on Casino Road last May, one of the first things he realized was how many underprivileged kids were in the area.
The second thing he realized was that he wasn't going to be able to help them all by himself.
And so in an effort to raise money for scholarships to help kids do things like attend summer camps and engage in activities they otherwise couldn't afford, Marsh is bringing in an A-list celebrity in the Seattle sports scene.
University of Washington men's basketball coach Lorenzo Romar, who knows Marsh's father Curt from their days as UW athletes, will be the speaker at a silent auction/fundraiser at Floral Hall at Forest Park this Wednesday night in South Everett. The event will include a dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse as well as a cash bar.
"The first person that came to mind was coach Romar," Marsh said of choosing a speaker for this week's event. He added that after Curt Marsh got in touch with Romar: "Right away, he said: 'Absolutely.' He and his camp have just been great people. … We're just very blessed and very honored to have him."
Dinner will be followed by a silent auction that will feature items donated by teams like the Seattle Seahawks (a Marshawn Lynch signed football), the Washington Huskies (a Steve Sarkisian signed helmet) and the Seattle Storm (a Lauren Jackson signed jersey).
The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with an hour meet-and-greet preceding dinner. Curt Marsh is scheduled to MC the event, while Romar will speak and could stick around to meet fans afterward.
Tickets are $50 and available through the Boys & Girls Club. Jacob Marsh can be contacted at 425-355-6899.
