LONGVIEW — Everett Community College won two loser-out games Saturday to remain alive in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges baseball tournament at Lower Columbia College.
Everett defeated Columbia Basin 6-1 in a morning game and beat Yakima Valley 6-0 Saturday night.
Everett plays at 4:30 p.m. today in a loser-out game against an opponent to be determined.
The Trojan’s Alex Shaffer pitched eight innings against Columbia Basin, allowing two hits while striking out six and walking three. Kody Stone pitched the ninth to pick up the save.
JV Estella and Jayk Sells hit RBI doubles and Cody Reed had an RBI single for EvCC against Columbia Basin.
Daniel Orr and Stockton Taylor each had a single and a double for the Trojans against Columbia Basin.
Everett’s Ryan Sells pitched a four-hit shutout against Yakima Valley, striking out seven and walking four.
Paul Sitkowski had two hits, including a solo home run, in the second game. Estella had two RBI against Yakima Valley.
Sells and Orr each had two hits against Yakima Valley.
