EVERETT — Police on Friday night recovered a man’s body from Port Gardner, near Jetty Island.
The body will be turned over to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and autopsy, said officer Aaron Snell, spokesman for the Everett Police Department.
“We’re not speculating on who it is at this time,” he said.
The body was spotted about 5 p.m. Friday by a boater who was on the Snohomish River between Jetty Island and the Port of Everett, Snell said. Police sent divers and boats.
The recovery happened in the same general area where police searched after a boat capsized May 14 off Everett, killing its owner.
There was no immediate word whether Friday’s search was connected to that accident.
The body of Richard L. Irby Jr., 49, of Everett, has not been found. Police say his boat capsized May 14 because it was overloaded with scrap metal. Another man in that boat was rescued but required treatment for hypothermia.
