Lake Stevens teammates chosen in MLB draft

Lake Stevens shortstop Dylan LaVelle was picked in the 18th round (574th overall) by the Detroit Tigers in the Major League Baseball amateur draft on Wednesday.

LaVelle's teammate Jake Nelson (OF/P) was chosen by the Boston Red Sox in the 26th round (811th overall).

LaVelle hit .436 this season and was named to the All-Wesco first team and All-Area second team. Nelson hit .406 and knocked in 30 runs and was an All-Wesco and All-Area first team selection as an outfielder.
