Brian Banks will take part in Seahawks minicamp

Linebacker Brian Banks, who worked out with the Seahawks last week, will participate in this week's minicamp as a tryout player, his agent confirmed Sunday.

You probably know Banks' story by now, but just in case, a quick recap. Banks was one of the top recruits in the nation as a junior at Long Beach Poly High School, but was arrested that year and eventually convicted of rape. After five years in prison and five more on parole, his conviction was overturned after his accuser admitted she had fabricated the story (you can read more about it here).

Several teams have reached out to Banks, 26, inviting him in for workouts, and fittingly, the first team to do so was the Seahawks. Pete Carroll offered Banks a scholarship to USC before his arrest, and a decade later, he was the first coach to invite Banks in for a workout. Carroll saw enough out of Banks to invited him back for this week's minicamp, but at the time Banks said he still had to figure out his schedule with his agent. On Sunday, Banks wrote on Twitter that he was traveling to Kansas City for a workout, the coming to Seattle for minicamp. Banks' agent confirmed that Banks will be on had for the second two days of Seattle's minicamp, which runs from Tuesday through Thursday.
