Front Porch: Sign up for Run of the Mill 5K

Mill Creek Town Center is hosting the Columbia Funding Mortgage Run of the Mill 5K race/walk July 7th.
Packet pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 9:30 a.m.
Cost is $25 per adult, and kids and students get a discount.
Race participants should register online at by June 30. Starting July 1, there is a $15 late fee. Online registration closes at midnight July 4.
The Run of the Mill entry fees are donated to local charities and high school athletic programs, including a special fund supporting cancer patients during treatment.

Art at the Barn this weekend:The Arlington Arts Council's fifth annual Art at the Barn show and sale is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 20412 Highway 530, 12 miles east of Arlington.
The Arlington Arts Council, in partnership with the city of Arlington, provides public art.
Live music is planned. Admission is free.

Smelter cleanup: Get a progress report on the smelter clean up in north Everett at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett.
The Department of Ecology is cleaning up emissions from an Everett smelter that operated until 1912, causing widespread soil contamination.
