SEATTLE — Arena investor Chris Hansen has been questioned by the Seattle City Council about his proposal for a new arena that could lead to the return of the NBA.
Hansen said Wednesday morning that he doesn’t believe his proposal should go to a public vote. When questioned about possibly renovating KeyArena, he said that was examined but proved to be too costly.
Ethan Raup, representing the mayor’s office, said the mayor’s office believes it’s a “mistake” to bypass a financial investment from Hansen and his investors to spend time looking at KeyArena’s viability.
Councilman Tim Burgess said he wants all investors revealed before the council votes on the arena plan.
Hansen has said that most of the investors will likely remain silent until a team is acquired to play in Seattle.
