Beavers have the ability to alter the environment as much as man.

See how these amazing dam-building engineers do that by watching a free showing of the IMAX movie "Beavers" on Friday, presented by the Adopt A Stream Foundation on the Northwest Stream Center's big screen.

"Everyone will be able to take a virtual swim with beavers and experience the beautiful underwater habitat of one of nature's greatest engineers," said Adopt A Stream Foundation director Tom Murdoch.

Set in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, this short movie follows the lives of a family of beavers doing everything families do: grow, play and fall in love.

You will also get to watch how these creatures transform the natural world around them.

Adopt A Stream's Sammy the Salmon will introduce the film by reviewing the benefits that beavers provide to salmon, trout and other wildlife. Murdoch will answer question after the movie while also sharing his experiences with North America's biggest rodent, and give a short tour of the outdoor trout stream exhibit, according to press material.

"Beavers -- The Imax Movie" is 7 p.m. Friday at the Northwest Stream Center at McCollum Park, 600 128th St., SE, Everett. The event is free but you must reserve a seat. Call 425-316-8592 or for more information go to www.streamkeeper.org.
