Liberty ends Storm's five-game win streak

The New York Liberty ended the the Seattle Storm's five-game winning streak and spoiled the return of forward Svetlana Abrosimova with a 77-59 victory over Seattle on Saturday.

The Liberty used strong second and fourth quarters to earn the victory and relied on the scoring of Essence Carson (22 points) and Cappie Pondexter (20 points).

The Storm had been playing much better offensively during their winning streak, but reverted back to earlier struggles on Saturday. Seattle shot just 32 percent (19-for-59) from the field.

The high scorers for Seattle were Tina Thompson and Ann Wauters, who both finished with 10 points.

Abrosimova played just six minutes in her return to the team, finishing with no points and missing on her only field-goal attempt.

The Storm were not helped by the 25 turnovers they committed, as opposed to New York's 17. The Liberty also shot 42 percent from the field, not outstanding, but significantly better than the Storm.

Seattle continues its four-game road trip on Sunday when they face the Connecticut Sun.
