Front Porch: Plan on fireworks inspection on ferries
Fireworks should be kept in a place easily accessible for police to examine.
Illegal fireworks on ferries will be confiscated and could lead to criminal charges.
Give blood on the Fourth: To make it easier and more convenient for people to give blood, Puget Sound Blood Center is extending hours at local donor centers this week.
Donations usually decline in the summer because donors are away on vacation, and colleges and universities are on break.
Both Snohomish County centers, in Everett and Lynnwood, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The Everett center also will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Everett center is at 2703 Oakes Ave.; the Lynnwood center is at 19723 Highway 99, Suite F.
Everett pub reopens: New owner Dave Weston on Tuesday is holding a grand opening of Kroakers Neighborhood Bar at 3021 Rucker Ave., Everett.
The cover charge is $5 and includes music by The Lucas Cates Band.
Weston took the site over in February and has been working the bar while adding amenities such as Texas Hold em' tournaments, UNO, skeeball and darts.
Kroakers also has three tournament grade pool tables, sports games in hi-definition and karoke.
