SULTAN -- A man killed in a car accident Sunday near Sultan was the father of the children who also were hurt, police said Tuesday.

Joseph Paul Turner, 35, of Sultan, was driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber that went off Sultan Basin Road northeast of town and rolled over about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

He died at the scene. Two children, 5 and 11, were seriously injured but are expected to recover.

Police earlier this week were unable to confirm the family relationship before the man had been identified and his family had been notified of his death.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
