Doug Ward, of Lake Stevens, helps his son, Dean, 4, adjust his skates for a learning to skate class at Comcast Community Ice Rink on June 30.
Located in the heart of downtown Everett, skating to the upbeat music on the ice rink's smooth surface is an activity the whole family can enjoy together. Fun is a big priority at this National Hockey League regulation-size ice sheet, so expect to have lots of it.
If you have never skated before or just need a brush-up, lessons are available. The rink is open days and evenings all week long.
Long-sleeve shirts, jeans and gloves are suggested. Elbow and knee pads are optional, said Cassie Behrendt, marketing coordinator at Comcast Arena.
“Using them depends on your comfort level,” Behrendt said.
Helmets are recommended for kids, especially young ones, said Bradley Phillipps, Ice House team member. Free helmets are available for kids to borrow.
Phillipps, along with a crew of others on duty at the Ice House, are there to provide assistance for any ice skaters who need it.
If you would like to get a treat or eat a meal in between your time on the ice, stop by The Power Play Café.
The Café offers standard arena goodies: hot dogs and corn dogs, pizza and pretzels, popcorn and brownies, deli goods, salads, fresh fruit and more.
Want to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion on ice? The Comcast Ice Rink team also coordinates group events.
