Boeing delivers 150 planes in 2Q, including 6 787s

CHICAGO -- Boeing Co. said on Thursday that it has delivered 287 commercial airplanes so far this year, including a total of 11 of its new 787s.
The 787 deliveries are being closely watched because Boeing is ramping up production of that plane at both its Everett factory and a new line in North Charleston, S.C. Boeing delivered six of those planes in the second quarter.
Barclays analyst Carter Copeland said the 787 deliveries were less than many analysts expected, but shouldn't hurt Boeing's earnings because profit margins on that plane are thin anyway.
Boeing said it delivered 150 commercial planes in the second quarter. Besides the 787s, they included 109 of its 737s; seven of its superjumbo 747s; six of its long-haul 767s; and 22 of its 777s.
Boeing's defense division also delivered 12 Chinook cargo helicopters and 12 of various versions of its F-18 strike plane, as well as three Apache attack helicopters.
Boeing shares rose 17 cents to $74.44 in afternoon trading. Its shares are down 4.3 percent from a 52-week high of $77.83 set in early May. They traded as low as $56.01 last August.
