EVERETT -- Police on Thursday morning recovered a man's body from a wooded ravine near the 4800 block of Glenwood Avenue in Everett.

The body was turned over to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office, which will try to identify the person as well as determine a cause and manner of death.

The scene is near the home where Todd Patrick Caudle, 49, lived with his mother.

Caudle, a mentally ill man, has been missing since late June.

The body was found while crews combed the area for signs of Caudle.

Police and a Snohomish County Search and Rescue team aided by dogs began scouring the area around 6 a.m. Thursday. The body was found about an hour later in the ravine.

Detectives searched the same area last week.

"It is very heavily wooded," Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.

Snell said it will be up to the medical examiner to determine who the dead man is and how he died.

Caudle's family worried that he could be a danger to himself and they had asked for the public's help in finding him.

The family had been putting up fliers and was looking for him.

Everett police assigned to a detective to the case.

Caudle has lived with his mother and has not been used to being away from home or the hospital.

He was last seen June 27 in the 4800 block of Glenwood Avenue. He may have been upset about recent news about his medical condition.
