Teen gets 7 1/2 years for armed robbery at Everett store

EVERETT -- A teen who clobbered a south Everett mini-mart owner with a handgun during a March robbery has been sentenced to 7½ years in prison.

Angel S. Losano pleaded guilty last month to first-degree robbery with a firearm. He was sentenced Monday to just over two years for the robbery. The judge tacked on five more years because the teen was armed during the heist. Under the law, Losano must serve every day of the five years. Losano turns 18 next month.

Losano was treated as an adult in Snohomish County Superior Court because of the seriousness of the charge.

Prosecutors alleged that Losano pointed a gun at the store owner's wife, who was standing behind the counter. Her husband confronted the masked teenager. The teen struck the man twice in the head with a pistol, according to court papers.

Two other robbers, 21 and 16, quickly grabbed two shirts from a display. All three ran from the store.

The mini-mart owner needed more than a dozen stitches to close the gash to his head.

Police caught up with the suspects a few days after the hold-up. Losano told investigators that he'd smoked marijuana and drank Four Loko, an alcoholic beverage, before the robbery.

Losano, who has gang tattoos on his arms, had one prior felony juvenile conviction and eight misdemeanor convictions.
