Last weekend to see Tony Award winning "Urinetown"
This is the last weekend to catch Village Theatre Kidstage's production of the satirical comedy "Urinetown."
The show is playing at the new Second Stage Theatre next to the Everett Performing Arts Center on Wetmore. It looks like a construction zone around Second Stage and it is as work continues on a new downtown plaza. But don't let that deter you; the theater is open.
And this musical is one of those that doesn't come around very often so see it if you can.
"Urinetown" was a Broadway success winning Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Book for a Musical and Best Direction. Village Theatre's Kidstage Summer Independent Production is presenting this satirical story about a time in the future when a terrible water shortage has occurred and the government has enforced a ban on private toilets.
According to press material, Village Theatre Kidstage chose the show because "it entertains as it explores issues in an alternative future that could have been ripped out of the headlines today. The haves and have nots; a society dealing with limited resources and the corruption of power."
"Urinetown" performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a special 11 p.m. performance Saturday at the new Second Stage Theatre, 2730 Wetmore Ave., Everett. Tickets are $14 and $12. Call 425-257-8600 or go to Village Theatre.
