Work has begun on the newest mural being painted on a building in downtown Edmonds as part of a city beautification project taken on by the Edmonds Mural Society now in its fourth summer.
This newest mural is “Untitled,” by Seattle muralist John Osgood and it features an abstracted ferry scene. The mural is being painted on the west wall of Girardi’s Restaurant at 504 Fifth Ave, Edmonds.
” ‘Untitled’ continues our dream of offering a wide variety of murals for everyone to enjoy,.” said mural society municipal liaison Jeff Stilwell
“Untitled” is the 12th mural raised by the mural society. Osgood will continue work on the mural throughout this week.
“We have historical, contemporary, realistic, abstracted – it’s becoming a very rich collection,” Stilwell said.
To protect the murals from fading or from weather damage, society volunteers primer the wall before the mural is painted and seal the mural afterward.
The Edmonds Mural Society plans on mounting three murals this summer. All murals are paid for through members dues and private donations. The society is a nonprofit organization .
