Former Washington Stealth star transition player Paul Rabil appears to have finally gotten his wish — a trade to the east coast.
Rabil’s rights were dealt by the Edmonton Rush to the defending National Lacrosse League champion Rochester Knighthawks this past Friday in exchange for Jarrett Davis.
Rabil and a first-round pick were traded to the Rush in the middle of the 2012 season in exchange for forward Athan Iannucci. Rabil never reported to the Rush and sat out the remainder of the season. Though Rabil never put on a Rush uniform, Edmonton still got value in the trade, the first-round pick the Stealth traded to the Rush became the No. 1 overall draft pick when the Stealth finished with the worst record in the NLL.
The Rabil saga has played out over the course of the past six months. The past week has been just as crazy for forward Shawn Williams.
Williams was first traded from the Edmonton Rush to the Minnesota Swarm for two second-round picks in the 2013 NLL draft. Then the Swarm traded Williams, their fifth, 14th and 18th overall selections and Brendan Doran to the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for the third overall selection in this year’s NLL draft.
Williams tallied 68 points in 2012 with the Rush.
In other moves over the past week, the Calgary Roughnecks acquired forward Aaron Pascas from the Toronto Rock. Pascas was a holdout in Toronto. The Rock received the Roughnecks third-round pick (27th overall).
Philadelphia also acquired Kevin Ross from Minnesota in exchange for the Wings first-round pick in 2015.
