The Stilly Valley Senior League baseball team (ages 13-16) came through the losers bracket and beat Richmond twice, 7-1 and 3-1, to claim the state championship on July 22 at Sherman Anderson Field in Mount Vernon.
The win qualified Stilly Valley for the Western Regional Tournament, which opens July 31 in Ontario, Calif. The winner of that tournament advances to the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Maine.
Members of the team include Brandon Broeckel, Peter Chung, Jacob Crain, Drew Earnheart, Tristan Jager, Devan Kooy, Bradley Mosalsky, Jacob Osborn, Justin Snyder, Noah Sorensen, George Spady, Andrew Stich, Zach Stillings, Brandon Tallman and Garrett Wiseman.
The team is managed by Gary Tallman. His coaches are Jerry Stillings and Gary Wiseman.
