MONROE — A man who reportedly assaulted Evergreen District Court staff and ran from his court hearing Wednesday night was arrested just 30 minutes later nearby.
The commotion started about 6 p.m. at the court at the corner of U.S. 2 and 179th Avenue SE.
The man, 24, was before a judge in some kind of criminal-case hearing, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The man allegedly assaulted a security officer and then ran into the Evergreen State Fairgrounds.
Sheriff’s deputies, Monroe police and Washington State Patrol troopers converged on scene to find him.
The man was arrested about 6:30 p.m. and taken back to the court, Ireton said. He was expected to be taken to Snohomish County Jail.
No serious injuries were reported. Additional details weren’t immediately available.
