Index Art Festival returns on Saturday
The Index Arts Festival offers that special experience and beckons visitors this weekend to its ninth annual Index Arts Festival.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday with most of the activity at Doolittle Park, 200 Fifth St., Index. Admission and parking are free.
Local artists such as acrylic painter Patrick Woods will be showing his collection along with painter and birdhouse crafter Dean Shepard. Ralph Bennett, Haida wood carver, will be demonstrating his art.
The festival has live music from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Index resident Sean "Rib" Horst and his band is playing as well as other musicians. Entertainment will be coordinated by Pat Sample of Paradise Sound Recording Studio.
Local poets will also offer readings throughout the day led by Sabrina Grafton.
For children and youth, the festival includes a free art area along with demonstrations by The Barnyard Buzzards Model Airplane Flying Club.
Festival vendors will include Karen Martin of Dove Designs, Peter Olson of Yamagama Kiln, Warren and Edie Hartz of Silk from the Hartz, Sandy DuVall of DuVall's Dazzling Designs and many others combining to form an eclectic mix of paintings, photographs, ceramics, art and jewelry.
Food vendors will also be on site.
