KIRKLAND -- Police in Kirkland say a man who apparently went into Lake Washington in pursuit of a ball has died.

Sgt. Robert Saloum told KIRO-TV the man was part of a family gathering Wednesday at a park along the lake.

King County sheriff's divers eventually located the man and brought him to shore, where he was pronounced dead.

The man was not immediately identified late Wednesday night.
