Whadda ya know?

Buh-bye now: Alaska Airlines admits it wasn’t proper procedure for a damaged area of a wing on one of its planes to be marked with a note, which was observed by passengers, that read, “We know about this.”.

If proper procedure had been followed, an Alaska Air spokesman said, the scrawled note would have been followed with “and thanks for flying Alaska.”

Gag writers, gag reflex: Presidential opponents Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama indulged in attempts at humor with Obama referring to Romney as “Romney Hood” for his tax plan, and Romney calling the president’s criticism “Obama-loney.”.

Voters, already tiring of the personal attacks and lack of substance in the campaigns even before the conventions, shook their heads and scrawled, “We know about this,” on both candidates’ backs.

Waiting to hear from the lawyers: NASA scientists, still ecstatic over the flawless landing of the Mars rover Curiosity, crowed over low-resolution images from the surface and from the descent of the probe itself (Page A8).

Among the early images was a photo of Curiosity’s discarded heat shield, which had landed on top of a Martian who held a sign that read, “We know about this.”
