Local artist in juried show
Work by Lynnwood artist Naoko Morisawa has been selected to be included in Art Port Townsend/Expressions Northwest, a juried art exhibit that runs through Aug. 26 in Port Townsend.
Morisawa’s work was one of 67 chosen and she will exhibit her mixed media artwork, “Magic Mushroom World VI.”

‘Chaps!’ extends at Taproot
Taproot Theatre Company has extended its hit musical, “Chaps!” through Aug. 18.
Audiences now have an extra week to lasso their laughter and experience this mash-up of British humor and cowboy music.

Book signing in Shoreline
Associated Press photographer Barry Sweet will sign his book, “Split Seconds: Four Decades of News Photography from the Pacific Northwest and Beyond,” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Aurora Village Costco, 1175 N 205th St., Shoreline.
Sweet was the only Northwest-based AP photographer in 1968 when he secured images of Apollo 8’s astronauts after their splashdown. He went on to cover Robert Kennedy’s Oregon campaign visit just weeks before his assassination, Jimi Hendrix’s funeral in Renton, the first stop of Madonna’s first concert tour (at Seattle’s Paramount Theater) and Bill Gates’ early years.
Lynnwood commission seeks artists
The Lynnwood Arts Commission is looking for artists for monthlong exhibitions in 2013 at the Lynnwood Library Gallery.
