Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1962)
Winners of the recent Park-Recreation tennis tournament at Forest Park were Steve Bennett, Jo Anne Burklund, Ruthy Westover, Robert Nelson, Kathy Stewart, Mike Deller and Jim Avery.
The long-sought smooth, straight highway between Arlington and Darrington came a step nearer this morning when sections at the Hazel bypass, where two Northern Pacific crossings were eliminated, and between Forston and White Horse were opened. Other improvements in the works were a new Boulder Creek birdge and reconstruction of the roadway from Arlington to Cicero.
25 years ago (1987)
The South Everett All-Stars defeated Hawaii in the championship of the Junior Little League Northwest Divisional Tournament at Fort Vancouver High School. They were next off to Pomona, Calif. Ken Hudson was manager. Players included Brandon Anderson, Chris Banks, Maurice McNeal, Jeff Prewitt, Joe Gallagher and Mark Lehner.
Mr. Muffler at 1701 Everett Ave. had coupons in the paper for new disc pads or brake shoes for $49.95 or $89.95. Another coupon took 25 percent off any additional brake service parts of labor. A third was for installation of a dual exhaust system for $149.95.
