PORT TOWNSEND -- A Jefferson County jury has found a Brinnon man guilty of 41 counts of rape and assault against the Filipino woman he brought to his home with the promise of marriage.

The Peninsula Daily News reports that 49-year-old Patrick John McAllister was arrested more than two years ago and had been free on bail. His conviction was handed down Friday.

Court documents say that McAllister was introduced to the woman when she was 22. He began a long-distance relationship with her, eventually visiting her in the Philippines in 2008 and promised marriage.

She arrived in Seattle on March 14, 2010, and was brought to McAllister's home in Brinnon, where charging documents say there were 24 instances of sexual violence in about a month. She escaped the home and sought police.

McAllister's attorney says they will appeal.
