Everett woman arrested in stabbing case

EVERETT -- An Everett woman was arrested for investigation of first-degree assault Thursday after allegedly stabbing a man in the back without provocation on Aug. 10, according to court papers.
Both the suspect and the victim had been receiving mental health counseling before the incident.
The pair were living in apartments in the 3300 block of Lombard Avenue.
The victim was outside in a designated smoking area with two other people when the woman approached the group, court papers said.
When the other two people left, the man started walking back to his apartment. That's when he felt a sharp pain in his back.
He told Everett police that he walked back into his apartment with the suspect before realizing he had been stabbed.
Once inside, he noticed that the woman, 30, had a large knife in her hand, court papers said.
He told police the woman said she was going to kill people. She then placed the knife in the man's sink.
The man called 911 after the woman left.
He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he was treated for a collapsed lung.
The man initially told police he was stabbed by a man he didn't know.
He later told police that the woman had stabbed him.
Police contacted a county mental health professional who said the woman would either need to be taken to a hospital or jail to undergo an evaluation.
A judge set bail at $100,000 in Everett District Court on Friday.
