Fair days: Plan your visit to the Evergreen State Fair

Ticket prices

General admission:

•Adults, 16-61, $10

•Senior citizens, 62-89, $7

•90 and older, free

•Youth, 6-15, $7

•Kids under 5 free

Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Carnival hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Parking

$8 weekdays; $10 weekends. No re-entry.

How to get there

The Evergreen State Fairgrounds are at 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe, 14 miles east of Everett on U.S. 2 and about 30 miles northeast of Seattle via I-405 and Highway 522.

Community Transit Routes 270 and 275 will serve the fair every 30 to 90 minutes Monday through Saturday. There is no service on Sundays or Labor Day. For exact times, go to www.communitytransit.org.

Park free at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., and at the Snohomish, Sultan and Gold Bar park &ride lots.

Free admission until 1 p.m. Register for the bubble gum-blowing contest beginning at 4 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage. Enjoy a trio of activities all for $10 at the Evergreen Speedway including a classic car show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., drag racing from 1 to 6 p.m. and motocross races from 5 to 9 p.m. See a fireworks show after the races. For kids, see the All-Alaskan pig races at 3 and 6 p.m. at Frontier Land.

Aug. 24, Friday: Agriculture Day

Free admission until 1 p.m. with three cans of food.Visit the Northwest District Beekeepers during the day at the Display Hall.Don’t miss the International Lumberjack Show which is held at noon, 4 and 7 p.m. at Frontier Land.For kids, learn how to be a farmer for a day at the Snohomish County Agriculture Display.

Aug. 25, Saturday: Race Day

Start the day attending the Monroe Fair Days Parade at 11 a.m. in downtown Monroe. Register for the egg toss contest beginning at 5 p.m. at the Arena. See drivers from all over the country competing at 6 p.m. in the KISW Figure 8 Nationals event at the Evergreen Speedway. For kids, enjoy the 4-H dog costume competition at 2 p.m., in the Dogs, Cats, Poultry and Cavies barn.

Aug. 26, Sunday: Fiesta Sunday

Enjoy the music of Mariachi Fiesta Mexico starting at 3 p.m. on the Xfinity Courtyard Stage or later when they are roving around the fairgrounds. See the Aztec Indian Dancers at 2 and 8 p.m. at the Indian Longhouse, and also at 5:15 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage. Don’t forget to stop by the salsa taste off contest at 1 p.m., in the Snohomish County Agriculture Display. For kids, visit the interactive museum at the Western Heritage Center.

Aug. 27, Monday: Senior Citizen’s Day

Seniors 62 years and older get in for free. Enjoy the Matt Baker Comedy and Stunt Show at 4:30 p.m., Xfinity Courtyard Show or afterward when he is roving the fairgrounds. See the motorcycle/ATV skills contest at 6 p.m. in the Covered Arena. The rock band Styx performs at the Grandstand at 7:30 p.m. For kids, come and cheer at the 4-H Cat Bowl at 10:30 a.m. in the 4-H Building.

Aug. 28, Tuesday: Twosday Tuesday

Get in for $2 before 2 p.m. Register for the water balloon toss contest beginning at 1 p.m. in the Judging Arena.See the 4-H dog games at 7 p.m. in Dogs, Cats, Poultry and Cavies barn. For kids, learn more about reptiles with Reptile Man at 2 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage.

Aug. 29, Wednesday: Why Work Wednesday

Buy one adult admission, get one adult admission free.Admire the work of the chain saw carvers during the day starting at 10 a.m. at their exhibit booth.See who wins the raspberry fruit spread contest at 1 p.m. on the Snohomish County Agricultural Display.People wanting to show off their singing skills can do it during open mic karaoke starting at 8:30 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage.For kids, see the water balloon toss at 1 p.m. at the Judging Arena.

Aug. 30, Thursday: Kid’s Day

Children 15 years and younger get in for free.Compete at the pie eating contest at 3 p.m. on the Xfinity Courtyard Stage. Singer Demi Lovato and the rock band Hot Chelle Rae perform at 7 p.m. at the Grandstand. For kids, Disney Radio Presents “Phineas and Ferb” at 5:30 p.m. Xfinity Courtyard Stage.

Aug. 31, Friday: Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces and first responders get in for $5 with proper identification. Free admission until 1 p.m. with three cans of food. An Armed Forces Day Ceremony is planned at 2 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage. The Pro-West Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. at the Equestrian Arena. For kids, visit the 4-H performing arts drama and puppetry exhibit from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m, at the 4-H Building Stage.

Sept. 1, Saturday: Rodeo Day

Master hypnotist Joe Black performs at 1 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage. See the apple pie competition at 1 p.m. Snohomish County Agriculture Display. The Pro-West Rodeo is at 7 p.m. in the Arena. For kids, find the quarter in the haystack at the Snohomish County Agricultural Display at 11 a.m. for ages 4 and 5; at 2:30 p.m. for ages 6 and 7; and at 4:30 p.m. for ages 8-10.

Sept. 2, Sunday: Demo Derby Day

See the Snohomish County Western Games through the day until 5 p.m. at the Equestrian Arena. The frisbee throwing contest begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Judging Arena. See the demolition derby and fireworks show at 6 p.m. at the Grandstand. For kids, see the 4-H Large Animal Round Robin at 6:30 p.m. at the Judging Arena.

Sept. 3, Monday: Play/Labor Day

Fair closes at 7 p.m. Discount admission for everyone. See street drag races from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Evergreen Speedway for free with paid fair admission. Enjoy the mini horse show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Covered Arena. Come and see the 4-H Dog Games at 3 p.m. in the Dog, Rabbits, Poultry and Cavies barn. For kids, babies from 6 to 12 months can compete at the Baby Diaper Derby. Sign ups start at 2:45 p.m. at the Xfinity Courtyard Stage.
