LAKEWOOD — Authorities say they have shot and wounded an armed man who took hostages at a Lakewood credit union.
KOMO News reported that police responded to calls of a hostage situation at a Washington State Employees Credit Union branch in Lakewood Saturday afternoon.
Lt. Jeff Alwine of the Lakewood police said the armed man showed himself to police as he held a hostage. Fearing that hostage and others were in imminent danger, a SWAT team officer shot and injured the suspect, and he went down.
The hostage was not hurt.
The armed man’s condition wasn’t immediately available.
Alwine said the hostage situation began as a domestic violence incident inside the credit union.
